Ladies and gentlemen, we have almost made it through 2021. The end is in sight.
But as we reluctantly read our lengthy end-of-year to-do lists, I am going to request that you add one thing.
At the very bottom, in giant all-caps letters, I want you to write: TAKE CARE OF MY HEALTH. Now, this can mean all sorts of things and you can interpret it as you see fit.
But I am going to encourage you to ensure that as we head into the holiday season with limited celebrations and Zoom calls filled with familiar faces, you take some time for yourself.
Now, I am not going to pressure you to spend thousands on a Peloton (although if you’re on the fence DO IT) but I am going to press you to monitor your vitamin/nutrient intake. And one of the biggest vitamins you should be taking is Vitamin C.
I see you reaching for the orange next to you and yay for effort but how about we make this a little more effective. Or efficient. Or both.
First off, let’s talk about the best Vitamin C.
We all think we know about this little citrusy nutrient and I’m sure at some point in your life you’ve emptied one of those nasty little powder packets into a glass to chug in the hopes of staving off a fever but in reality, Vitamin C does more than we realize and should be taken regularly, not just after an 80-hour workweek.
The bad news is that your body doesn’t produce Vitamin C on its own, meaning that you have to get it from a well-balanced diet or by supplementation.
As always, a balanced diet is the best option but whoever decided that must not have a full-time job, kids, and dogs that want attention every time you sit down to breathe.
People who have never shoved a Kind bar into their mouth while running to their next meeting really show themselves with those comments, am I right?
The good news is that you can actually give yourself a leg up on getting the vitamins you need by scheduling an appointment for a high-dose Vitamin C drip right here at IVitamin.
“But do I really need it?” you ask tiredly.
Yes, yes you do. Vitamin C has not only has been shown to help regenerate other antioxidants in the body but can also boost immunity and help to form collagen, an essential component of connective tissue that aids in wound healing.
Vitamin C is also vital in the maintenance of cartilage, bones, and teeth. But even more importantly (in my very opinionated opinion) is that Vitamin C helps the body absorb and store iron which is necessary for the body for growth and development.
Your body uses iron to make hemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to all parts of the body as well as myoglobin, a protein that provides oxygen to muscles.
So, for everyone burning calories in the gym or at home chasing toddlers, Vitamin C is integral to your body’s function.
It is also important to note that people who smoke or are exposed to secondhand smoke are the most at risk for a Vitamin C deficiency. Since it is a super-antioxidant that helps protect your cells against the effects of free radicals (molecules produced when your body breaks down food or is exposed to tobacco smoke or radiation from the sun, x-rays, etc.),
It is vital that anyone who spends lots of time in the sun or around smokers gets their daily requirements. Free radicals play a role in heart disease as well as various cancers and studies have shown that maintaining appropriate levels of vitamins and nutrients may lower your risk for many types of cancers like breast, colon, and lung.
And while these studies are still being explored, initial findings show that ensuring the correct intake of vitamins could be helpful in avoiding such diseases.
“Ok fine. Point taken. Can I just go buy a bottle of it at the grocery store?”
Of course, you can. But it’s important to remember that not all supplements are created equal so a little research may be necessary to ensure you end up with a safe and effective product.
You can also get it by eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies (citrus fruits, berries, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli, and spinach to name a few). But remember that list I made you add to? To prioritize your health?
Why don’t you take this opportunity to spend some time in a super clean and wonderfully comfortable spa setting surrounded by smiling health professionals who can administer your Vitamin C via a high-dose IV drip? Why don’t you turn your phone off and relax while boosting your immune system in one of our super comfortable massage chairs?
The thing is, by getting your Vitamin C delivered intravenously, your body will absorb 100% of the vitamin. Instead of trying to eat ten oranges a day that has the potential to tear up your stomach or swallow chalky pills that you can’t quite rinse out of your mouth no matter how many cold brews you have, why not ensure that you get the most bang for your buck in a relaxed setting?
And yes, maybe I am encouraging this because I love the idea of resting to recover or because if I’m already in the clinic I can freshen up these forehead lines at the same time, but if that doesn’t appeal to you….you need to come in so we can change your mind!
IVitamin is here to help you achieve your health and wellness goals and as we head into flu season there is nothing we would rather do than get your body ready to rock these next few months!
This is a win-win y’all. You get some quiet/alone time, the Vitamin C you need to take on the holiday season, and most importantly: YOU GET TO CHECK SOMETHING OFF YOUR LIST!
